KARACHI, Dec 7: The Pakistan scrabble players warmed up in style for the World Youth Scrabble Championship (WYSC) in the cold English weather.
According to the information received here on Friday, the warm-up tournament before the WYSC at Birmingham was won by 15-year-old Arham Abidi from Pakistan.
The warm-up featured 36 players including some of the world’s top-rated adult players along with the youth players in this tournament.
Young Arham, making his debut at this level, had an astonishing run, winning all of his 10 matches. He was the only player who remained unbeaten in the tournament.
The other Pakistani players were also in fine form. Mohammad Jahanzaib Khan won the prize for making the highest one move score of 194 for his word MATCHERS.
The WYSC starts from Dec 7. An eight-member youth team from Pakistan consisting of four girls and four boys is taking part in the event. Arham’s win has lifted the spirits of the team before the main event.
